I don’t know about you but whenever life knocks me down there is nothing like fighting back at it by going on a jog. I get to breathe in deep and exhale out all of my anxiety and fears. One of my biggest stress relievers besides prayer is jogging. A day like today is perfect for jogging! The sun is shining bright and the air is cool…it is like medicine for to soul. I pray while I jog focusing on appreciation of the small things in life that I usually go way to fast to realize how sweet and special they are to me.
Even though the summers here in Dallas get really hot I am hoping to continue this habit even if I have to get up super early or jog really late in the evenings. I need to do it so I can be a better me. I know it helps me to be a better mom, friend, daughter and wife to my husband. I think often times we as women forget to take care of ourselves first because we get so busy helping and serving our families.
Today I want to encourage all you momma’s out there to breathe in deep, get outside or do something you absolutely LOVE to take care of yourself first. You are special and important too! God loves you and wants the best for you! Just like in the airplane you have to put on your mask first before you can help anyone else!
Once you get out and get your heart pumping it actually improves one of the BEST things in life…sleep! Releasing those endorphins not only improves your mood (almost instantly) but it helps cure insomnia. Who doesn’t love sleep?? I think if jogging improves my sleeping pattern then I am soo there!
When your feet hit the pavement jogging helps improve your focus and also helps gets rid of that grey area of confusion. You come back to work after 15 minutes feeling completely revived and ready to go! Fresh ideas and newer clean thoughts start to come through my brain which totally beats my old ways of negative thinking!
What is really sweet about jogging is that getting out on the road torches calories like no other! It not only helps you maintain a healthy weight it also helps to balance out your cravings for that sugary goodness at night! Jogging improves your cardiovascular fitness and the more you do it the better you are at it! Your muscles are strengthened and it helps your bones grow stronger as it is a weight bearing exercise! HAPPY RUNNING!!
